Great Grandma Mac. Pie Pastry

  • 5 c. flour
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Mix these together and then rub in 1 pound of lard (DO NOT CREAM) Use a knife to chop the lard up. It should be chunky and powdery.

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar

Beat 1 egg well , put into a 1 cup measure and add vinegar. Add water to fill the cup. Pour into first mixture.

Use hands or pastry blender to mix together and form balls.

Can be stored in fridge or freezer, makes 5 crusts. Add more flour if it won’t roll.
