 /statusbar window enable

Turn off all the colours:

 /set colors off
 /set hilight_nick_matches off
 /statusbar topic disable
 /statusbar window disable

Ignoring users:

 /ignore *!tcollen@neuagency.com all

Seems obvious, but Page Up/Page Down work in irssi.

 /sb end

returns you to the current line.
